If you’ve visited my little internet corner of crazy, then you have an idea of all the things my family and I go through. We’ve got mental illness, autism, physical issues and disabilities, etcetera etcetera.
I like to imagine the intricacies of our lives as a garden. Some people prefer order in the array of beauty. Some thrive in the chaos of scattered seeds and the wait of surprise to what will pop up. I am a wildflower type person.
So with wildflowers, there’s no order. It’s just a beautiful chaos that brings out different feelings in people. And many wildflowers can also be classified as weeds. In my life, with the mental illness and ADHD and autism and everything, most people would say those things are not welcome. Not welcome = weeds. But beauty = wildflowers. My point here is that all those things are both. There’s plenty of beauty in my mental illnesses and a ton in my kids autism. Sometimes it all sucks and sometimes it’s wonderful.
So here’s a message for anyone who’s found my little blog: You are not alone. It is okay if you are not okay. It is okay to ask for help. It is okay to take medications, do yoga, pray, meditate, whatever it takes to take care of you. There is no shame in how you feel and it is not your fault. You are not alone. So cheers to speaking up and taking care of ourselves. You are welcome here.
